Triestia is an independent travel guide created to help visitors explore Trieste and its surroundings with confidence.
The project grew out of Diversorio, our accommodation and travel guide based in nearby Izola, Slovenia. Guests staying in our apartments in Izola often visit Trieste and ask practical questions: Where should we park? Which beaches are worth visiting? Where can we eat well? What should we see, and which area is best for an overnight stay?
Triestia brings the answers together in one place.
What you’ll find on Triestia
Our guides focus on the practical details travellers need when planning a visit:
- beaches and bathing places;
- car parks and street parking;
- hotels, apartments and other places to stay;
- restaurants, cafés, wine bars and gelaterias;
- attractions, museums and neighbourhoods;
- events and practical advice for visiting Trieste.
We aim to explain not only what each place offers, but also who it is best suited for, how to get there and what visitors should know in advance.
About the authors
Triestia is created by Maxim and Olga, who live in nearby Izola and regularly visit Trieste and the surrounding area.
We visit tourist attractions, beaches, neighbourhoods and local businesses, take our own photographs and, whenever possible, check the information presented in our guides firsthand. We also consult official websites and other reliable local sources for details such as opening hours, admission prices, parking rules and available facilities.
Not every place featured on Triestia has necessarily been visited personally. When a guide is based primarily on research rather than firsthand experience, we avoid presenting it as a personal review.
Information can change, so we review and update our pages as new details become available. Triestia is a developing project: we are starting with the questions travellers ask most often and gradually adding new places, categories and local guides.
